some country treat children that way because children is so vulnerable and rarely can voice out their right. some of the country use children as slave and tortured them. children are so weak and scared to fight back. that is why children is a easy target for being threat badly.

from the short story Mariah, i choose the main character from the stories, which is Mariah. the imam married mariah but eventually the imam divorce mariah because mariah cheat on him. the imam told cik yan that he can not stand mariah attitude. Mariah keep on flirting with other guy eventhought she already married. after 3 month mariah got divorced,   the imam get the happy news that dik yan is pregnant.
